Level 1 Food Safety Catering Course – Manufacturing: what is covered?
This course is split into four modules, each designed to take you through the most important food safety basics for food manufacturing settings.
First, you’ll look closely at the law around food safety. The Food Safety Act 1990 plays a key role here. You will be introduced to key food safety legislation and learn about the possible consequences of failing to adhere to the law.
Like the rest of the course, the information held in this first module is useful to both employees and employers operating in a food manufacturing setting.
Potential physical, biological, allergenic and chemical hazards are all covered in the second module, before an in-depth examination of risk control is included in module three.
You will be taught the most effective ways to clean and tidy food areas, as well as how best to minimize the chances of a contamination outbreak in your storage or preparation facilities. Personal hygiene advice is also included.
In the last module, you will be taught about the dangers of pests. You will learn what attracts pests, the risks they can pose, and how best to keep them away from your food manufacturing premises.

Students face a multiple choice test at the end of each of the course’s four modules.
They must score at least 75% in each of those four tests to be awarded their certificate of achievement.
